ALAPPUZHA (ALLEPPEY)

Alappuzha is a district in Kerala. It is also known as the "Venice of the East". It is also a major centre for the spice trade. GURUVAYUR TEMPLE

Guruvayur is a major pilgrimage city in the state of Kerala. Guruvayur is the temple of Lord Krishna. It is also called Vaikundam, meaning the sacred abode of Vishnu on earth. Guruvayur temple is also known as the Dwarka of South India. It is believed that Lord Krishna chose this temple city to establish his Dwarka temple and that, as per the wish of the Lord, Lord Vayu and Lord Brahma installed the statue of Lord Krishna in the Guruvayur temple.
